I left at 7 a.m. to beat traffic and skipped the cleanup: so bad?

My side
A week’s vacation with friends in a cabin on a lake. On the last day, checkout was set for 10 a.m., after the end-of-stay cleaning the owner required. But it was the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, and the traffic app was predicting monster jams from 9 a.m. on. I let everyone know the night before that I’d leave at 7. I tidied my room, took out my trash, and left $20 on the table “for the trouble.” The others did the kitchen, the bathroom and the floors. In the group chat, people said I got off easy. I think I did my part, and I even paid.
Their side
The others explain that the end-of-stay cleaning is three hours with six people, or four hours with five. The $20 doesn’t replace a pair of hands, and nobody asked for it. They hit traffic too, and they would have loved to leave early as well. According to them, telling everyone the night before isn’t asking: it’s announcing.
