Who's Right?

I do burpees at 6 a.m. in our shared living room: too much?

My side

I finally found a workout routine that works for me: twenty minutes of exercise at 6 a.m., before work. Jumping jacks, burpees, push-ups, with a trainer video on my phone. There’s no room in my bedroom, so I set up in the living room. I wear earbuds so I don’t bother anyone. But my two roommates complain: they say the floor shakes, they hear every jump all the way in their rooms, and I breathe “like a freight train.” I think that’s unfair: the living room belongs to everyone, and at 6 a.m., nobody’s using it. I’m working out, not partying.

Their side

My roommates explain that their bedrooms open right onto the living room, and that jumping at 6 a.m. echoes through the whole apartment, including the downstairs neighbor’s place, who’s already come up to knock. They get up around 7:30, and those forty-five minutes of sleep matter. According to them, I could run outside or pick exercises without jumping.
