Who's Right?

My mom reorganizes my kitchen every time she visits: too far?

My side

My mom comes to stay with me for a few days three or four times a year. I love her. But every visit, she rearranges my kitchen. Not a quick wipe-down: a full reorganization. The spices move to a drawer, the pots switch cabinets, the mugs go up to the top shelf. After she leaves, I spend three weeks looking for the salt. Last time, she threw out a tin of tea I was saving for a special occasion, because it was “expired a long time ago.” I nicely asked her not to touch anything anymore. She got offended and told me I don’t know how to accept help.

Their side

According to her, my kitchen was a total mess, and she just made things more logical: what you use often in front, the rest in back. She’s not doing it to judge me, but to make my life easier. She gets a little bored while I’m at work, and organizing is her way of feeling useful. As for the tea, it really was several years old.
