My mom comments on all my posts, and I finally told her to stop

My side
I’m thirty-four, and my mom comments on every single one of my posts. Every one. A photo of my coffee: “Remember to eat something besides coffee, sweetheart.” A vacation photo: “Did you put on sunscreen?” A work post about a project I led: “Way to go, my baby, I’m so proud!” My professional contacts see everything. I asked her, gently, to send me her messages privately instead of commenting. She said “okay,” but in a voice that meant the opposite. Since then, she hasn’t commented on anything, not a single heart, and my dad told me she’s sad.
Their side
My mom explains that she lives far away, and that social media is her way of following my life and telling me she’s proud. She doesn’t understand what’s embarrassing about being proud of your child in public. She respected my request, but she feels pushed aside, as if I were ashamed of her in front of my coworkers.
