I say “whatever you want,” then veto every restaurant: too much?

My side
Every Friday night, my boyfriend asks where I want to eat. I always give the same answer: “Whatever you want, I don’t care.” And I mean it, in the moment. He suggests the pizza place: meh, we went there not long ago. Sushi? Too far. The diner? I’m not in the mood for pancakes. Twenty minutes later, he suggests the taco truck around the corner, and I say yes, thrilled. He’s exhausted. He says it’s a scavenger hunt with no clues. I think I’m allowed to not know what I want while knowing exactly what I don’t want. That’s not the same thing.
Their side
According to him, “I don’t care” should mean “I don’t care.” He feels like he’s taking an exam every Friday, one you can fail on the first question. He’d like me to suggest at least two ideas, or just accept the first one. He also points out that we end up at the taco truck four Fridays out of five, so I could just say so right away.
