A $180 bridesmaid dress I didn’t choose: can I ask her to split it?

My side
A friend asked me to be a bridesmaid. I happily said yes. A few weeks later, she sent the group of four bridesmaids the link to the dress she’d picked: sage green, floor-length, $180, plus alterations. She wants us all to match in the photos. I’ll never wear that dress anywhere else, it’s way too formal for my life. I suggested, privately, that she pay half, since she’s the one requiring it. She was hurt, and told me the others hadn’t made a fuss. I don’t know if the others don’t dare, or if I’m really the only one who thinks it’s expensive.
Their side
My friend explains that she mentioned matching dresses from the very start, when she asked me to be a bridesmaid, and that I said yes knowing that. She picked a style she thought was reasonable for a long dress. She’s already paying for the bridesmaids’ hair and makeup on the day. To her, asking her to split the dress on top of that is like handing her an invoice.
